After facing a bitter criticism in the Lam Shang Leen report on drugs, the ADSU hits another big hand again on Tuesday, 30th October 2018  after it confiscated 135 kg of heroin back in March 2017. Off the coast of Coin-de-Mire, the Anti Drugs Smuggling Unit seized 110kg of heroin as per the Head of the unit, DCP Choolun Bhojoo.

“We are waiting for the Forensic Science Laboratory’s report to confirm the weight”. Said the DCP.

The market value of 1 kg of heroin is valued at around 15 million rupees. The consignment seized today is worth around 1.6 billion rupees.

The drugs, which were packaged in packets of around 1kg, were caught on a speedboat by the members of ADSU. The three men, who were aboard the boat, were taken to the Line Barracks.

The DCP has expressed his gratitude towards the citizens. He lingered over the team spirit and the determination of the ADSU. He further revealed that the team was on their feet since last night.

It is to note that the Prime Minister, Hon. Pravind Jugnauth, has shielded the ADSU on various occasions. The unit also received encouragement from the authorities which has definitely boosted the morale of the team.
